The year 2001 has been a remarkable year to serve as an ambassador of the state of New Jersey. I have traveled throughout the state and experienced our diverse culture… New Jersey is a veritable microcosm of out entire nation. Serving as Mrs. New Jersey this year has strengthened me, encouraged me and revitalized my faith in mankind.

  It would have been impossible to envision how rewarding an enriching this title would prove to be. Strangers have looked to me for friendship, leadership and guidance. The tragic events of September 11th have affected out state deeply, but it has not broken us. Instead, I have witnessed a galvanization of our strength as a community. Simply put, there is no greater state to reside, work, or reign as a beauty queen in, than New Jersey .

  I would also like to thank our sponsors for their generous support and for the confidence in me.   Particular recognition is due to me mother, New Jersey's “Governor's Teacher of the Year 2001”, Cal Hawkins. I would like to go on record as saying that she is unequivocally the most beautiful woman in the world! (Just ask my Dad!) And to my children, Daniel Jr. and Christiana, mommy loves you so much. I could not have done it without you.

  To my husband, affectionately known as “Mr. New Jersey”, our love and commitment to one another is the most treasured mainstay of our marriage. I'll always remember your words to me after the Mrs. America Pageant. An adoring husband is the greatest gift a woman could have. I am proud to have served as Mrs. New Jersey America , but the greatest title that I have ever held is the title of Mrs. Daniel Malone.

  And to the 2002 contestants, I wish you all the best. This is one of the MOST exciting endeavors that you will undertake, and it is a whole LOT of fun! I encourage you to fully enjoy your time competing in the pageant. It takes courage and determination to participate in the Mrs. New Jersey America pageant, and I applaud and congratulate each one of you.
